I am so pleased to share that I was included among the reviewers for this year's Multicultural Children's Book Day! I was gifted a beautiful copy of The Magic Horse, A Hoopoe Teaching Story, written Idries Shah and illustrated by Julie Freeman. Hoopoe publishes books that " that not only entertain but help children and young adults understand themselves and their world" and this book certainly achieves that goal.

The book is beautifully illustrated with amazing borders surrounding each page. It tells a unique, but familiar feeling, tale of two very different brothers finding their way in the world. One brother finds his way easily while the other takes a longer path full of adventure. The underlying message is that there isn't just one way to be in the world and that is fitting for all of us!
